September 2019 Updates

I’ve made a lot of changes to what I do this past summer, and I want to take some time to reflect on what’s new and different. Just about all of the things I’m about to mention have been improvements in my presence and drive as an online content creator and a musician.

Website

As you can see of course, I’ve completed my website! This site serves as a central hub for everything related to my music and my YouTube channel. Right now it’s fairly basic, but eventually I’ll incorporate eCommerce and start selling things like albums, EPs, and sheet music to my public domain arrangements. I also plan to stay active with these blog posts to keep people updated with what bigger projects I’m working on.

Making Content Regularly

In 2019, my New Year’s resolution was to release a video every 2 weeks, and…I didn’t make it. But, I’ve been pretty darn close! I slacked off some in the spring because of school and senior year stuff, but I’ve been going strong since the beginning of summer. From doing this, I’ve realized that it’s absolutely possible, but it’s also time consuming. I’m likely going skip a couple releases again this semester because I’m currently student teaching, so my main focus is doing everything I can for my students right now. I’d also like some time to work on bigger projects that take much longer than two weeks, so skipping a release every now an then will help me with those.

Patreon

Back in July, I released my Patreon page, and it’s been going quite well! I was overwhelmed by the amount of supporters I got in the first day, and actually reached my first goal within 24 hours. This goal was to start licensing my covers which you can read more about below. Patreon has been a great way to get to know some of my supporters more closely, and I’ve gotten a lot of good feedback from them.

Licensing Music

As a result of one of my Patreon goals, I’ve started releasing my new covers on major platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. Right now there’s not much to see on those, but I’m excited to see my music library grow. As mentioned above, I’d like to start making my own albums and EPs at some point as well.

Collaborations

Last year I joined a group called Coin Op. Studios which is a small collective of people who make VGM cover on YouTube videos. This year, I released a track on their Castlevania album called Belmont , which can be listen to on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube music. Feel free to check it out! And this year, I joined The Materia Collective which is a similar concept but older and much larger. Me and my friend Steven Higbee recorded an ocarina septet for their Final Fantasy IX album called Eidolon. You can find places to listen to that album here! I’m also currently working on a big album with The Game Brass, and here’s the announcement for that. I’m looking forward to doing more of these collaborations and connecting with more awesome musicians!

So that’s it for now. I’m excited to keep growing as a YouTuber and an online content creator, and thank you for taking the time to read my updates!
